<h2 class="gr">Bio Diesel Facts</h2>
<p class="gr">Bio Diesel is the 'green' eco-friendly alternative to fossil Diesel
fuel. Consider these environmentally friendly facts about Bio Diesel.</p>
<ul>
<ul>
<li class="gr"> Life cycle emissions of greenhouse gases from Bio Diesel
are 55% lower than fossil fuel diesel</li>
<li class="gr">.Bio Diesel emits far less greenhouse gases and local air
pollutants than its mineral oil based competitors.</li>
<li class="gr">The emissions of carbon monoxide (a poisonous gas) from Bio
Diesel are 40% lower on average than carbon monoxide emissions from normal
diesel.
</li>
<li class="gr"> Tailpipe emissions of local air pollutants are better than
fossil diesel specifically: particulate emissions of Bio Diesel are measured
as 20% to 39% lower than Low Sulphur Fossil Diesel and 10% to 29% lower
that Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel fuel (ULSD).</li>
<li class="gr">Sulphur emissions are a major contributor to acid rain. Oxides
of sulphur emissions from Bio Diesel are at least 80% lower than Low Sulphur
Fossil Diesel and are comparable to or lower than ULSD due to the negligible
sulphur content of Bio Diesel fuels.</li>
<li class="gr">Nitrogen Oxides are a contributing factor in the localised
formation of smog and ozone. Nitrogen Oxides emissions from bio diesel
are comparable with those from ULSD. Emissions of Nitrogen Oxides from
Bio Diesel can be significantly reduced by adjustment to the engine's
timing. Catalytic converters that reduce emissions from fossil diesel
fuels function just as effectively with Bio Diesel fuel.</li>
<li class="gr">Volatile Organic Compound emissions from Bio Diesel are 55%
lower than Low Sulphur Fossil Diesel emissions. </li>
</ul>
</ul>
<p class="gr">Bio Diesel has significantly lower toxicity, better biodegradability,
and a higher flash point than fossil diesel fuels. Bio Diesel is less toxic
than table salt (sodium chloride) and less irritating to the skin than soap.
The flash point of fossil diesel is approximately 52 deg. Celsius while Bio
Diesel has a much higher flash point of approximately 151 deg. Celsius. </p>
<p class="gr">Bio Diesel degrades by 91% in the first twenty-one days. </p>
<p class="gr">Bio Diesel degrades at the same rate as Dextrose, a test sugar
used as the positive control when testing biodegradability. Bio Diesel degrades
about four to five times faster than fossil diesel fuels and can be used as
a solvent to aid in the cleaning up of fossil diesel fuel spills. The biodegradability
of Bio Diesel makes it particularly well suited to use in ecologically sensitive
areas such as inland waterways, unprotected ground excavations, agricultural
land and the forest or wildlife environment. </p>

<h2 class="gr">Bio Diesel Fuel Tax</h2>
<p class="gr">With the increasingly volatile international crude oil market,
the price of fuels are fluctuating wildly.</p>
<p class="gr">Bio diesel’s price is set by the a more stable market place,
and starts to break our dependence on a product that is causing long term
damage to the atmosphere and the environment.</p>
<p class="gr">The amount of tax paid on each litre of fuel is set by the government
and has a wide range across the board.</p>

<p class="gr">With the tax rate on marked (red) diesel used in generators now
standing at 7.69p per litre, costs can be dramatically reduced by taking advantage
of the economic sense in bio diesel power.</p>

<h2 class="gr">Bio Diesel fuels & electricity </h2>
<p class="gr">Part 7 of The Bio fuels and Other Fuel Substitutes (Payment of
Excise Duties etc) Regulations 2004 allows relief from duty on Bio fuels used
for electricity generation.<br>
This relief applies to all Bio fuels; it is not restricted solely to those
that meet the Biodiesel/Bioethanol specification.<br>
<a name="winter"></a></p>
<h2 class="gr">Winter and Bio Diesel</h2>
<p class="gr">During the autumn and winter months steps may need to be taken
to stop the bio diesel fuel from clouding, gelling and eventually setting,
ultimately starving the generator of fuel. </p>
<p class="gr">As the ambient temperature drops towards 0°C the bio diesel
will start to cloud (dependent on feedstock of the fuel). As the temperature
continues to fall below -5°C the bio diesel fuel starts to gel together.</p>
<p class="gr">If your generator is running for prime power, and drawing bio
diesel fuel from the base tank, then this issue is avoided, as the heat from
the engine will keep the ambient temperature above freezing.</p>
<p class="gr">If you are planning to run from an external fuel tank, then JS
Power Limited can supply a large range of fuel tanks with heating elements
built into the unit. These heaters will keep the bio diesel running so your
generator will run in the coldest of British winters.</p>
<p class="gr">A stand-by bio diesel generator will face different issues than
a prime power generator.</p>
<p class="gr">As the engine is not constantly running, providing heat to the
internal fuel tank, then heating elements can be fitted to the fuel tank(s)
so the bio diesel will still flow in the coldest snap.</p>
<p class="gr">As all our Eco-Gen range of bio diesel generators are capable
of running any blend of regular / bio diesel fuel, (from 100% bio diesel to
100% regular diesel) another option is to ‘blend’ your fuel. Having
a mix of 20% Bio diesel and 80% diesel fuel will let the fuel flow even when
(dependent on the mix) the temperature drops to -25°C. </p>
<p class="gr">If you prefer to have a 100% bio diesel fuel mix, then with one
of our external fuel tanks we can supply heating elements built in, to prevent
this from happening. The fuel is kept at just the right temperature so your
generator will continue to run in the coldest of British winters.<br>

<h2 class="gr">Bio Diesel EN 14214 Specification</h2>
<p class="gr">The EN14214 Bio Diesel fuel standard is the international standard
that was agreed to for the quality and integrity of Bio Diesel as a fuel.</p>
<p class="gr">The EN14214 standard dictates what amount of water, flash point,
viscosity, sulphur, etc which is allowed within the fuel.</p>
<p class="gr">The EN14214 standard is a derivate of the German DIN 51606 Standard
which is the highest standard in the world regarding Bio Diesel Fuel.</p>
<p class="gr">Compared to Gas Oil fuel, Bio diesel emits less greenhouse gasses,
with only an increase in NO emissions.</p>
